This Guideline is made to assist agencies to deal with requests for personal information under the GIPA Act. It covers formal and informal requests by people for their own personal information, and for the personal information of third parties.
The aim of this guideline is to promote greater consistency in the practice among agencies, and to resolve confusion about how, when and with whom to consult under section 54 of the GIPA Act.
